Eddie Murphy: Don't Assume Scary Spice Baby Is His

NEW YORK, December 6, 2006 -- Eddie Murphy warns against making any assumptions about Scary Spice's baby. Murphy and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown dated earlier this year.

A TV interviewer asked Murphy if he was happy because Brown is pregnant with his child. His response was, "Now you're being presumptuous because we're not together anymore."

He goes on to say, "I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."

A Murphy spokesman says he does not comment on Murphy's personal life, while a representative for Brown could not be located.

Murphy had a date for the premiere of "Dreamgirls" in New York on Monday: Tracey Edmonds. She's Babyface's estranged wife. When asked by the Associated Press if Edmonds is his "new lady," Murphy smiled and said, "Yeah." Edmonds tells People magazine she's been dating Murphy for about a month and a half.
