PFC reduces effectiveness of some vaccines

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A new study says exposure to a chemical found in everyday products may weaken the effectiveness of childhood vaccines.

PFC is found in everything from cookware to plastic bags and it can seep into our food.

Now a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association says children with the highest prenatal PFC exposure had the lowest response to diphtheria and tetanus vaccines.

Despite the finding, doctors urge parents not to skip routine vaccines.
