Making eye contact doesn't always make the point

Thursday, October 03, 2013

Making direct eye contact to make your point can backfire.

In a series of experiments, people tried to persuade others to adopt their point of view.

One theory is that direct eye contact can be interpreted as hostility or competitiveness.

The study was conducted at the University of British Columbia.
