Hassle-free furniture consignment service

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Moving can be such a big headache, but there's a new service that can alleviate some of the stress.

And even better is that you can make money!

We've all been there at least once: bought new furniture and while you're ready to part with the old stuff, you realize it's still in great condition.

There is Craigslist and eBay but very soon there will be another option.

Its creator says its hassle free white glove service that's a win-win for everyone involved.

"There is a lid for every pot, there's going to be a buyer for every type of furniture out there," said Rachel Rodin, of viyet.com.

But in a city where space is like gold, priceless, if you say, move from here to here, all that furniture may not fit. It's a dilemma for Jennifer Koen.

"These are one of my favorite chairs in the house, gorgeous," Koen said.

That's what she is dealing with right now, as her family gets ready to relocate.

"Some of the pieces that we bought and invested in don't translate to the new space," Koen said.

They are custom pieces, like her sofa and coffee table, which are both in excellent condition.

It sounds like a case for the creators of viyet.com.

"One phone call we'll come, move furniture, sell furniture, and then deliver the furniture to the buyer," said Louise Youngson-Klasfeld, of viyet.com.

The concept behind this new online furniture consignment shop is pretty simple.

If you have something to sell, then a team from viyet will come to your home, evaluate the item and if interested, photograph it and post here online.

It must be of a certain quality and in good to excellent condition.

Everything is then repriced at 30 to 60% of retail.

A snake skin side table that the owner paid $1,200 for, you'll pay only $600.

"There are some pieces out there that were custom made pieces that are really hot right now, that we are pricing below market value mostly because we want them to move," said Rachel Rodin, of viyet.com.

If it sells the consigner gets 50% of the sale.

Another perk, is if you're on a tight schedule, the folks from viyet will pick up the furniture and store it at no cost.

"We'll take mirrors, we'll take lamps, carpet, and some artwork," Younson-Klasfeld said.

Or like Jennifer who isn't on a deadline, you can keep the pieces in your home while they're posted online.

"We're really looking to build our inventory at this point so that we have a fabulous array of furniture come April," Rodin said.

If your piece doesn't sell after 60 days, the owner can take the piece back or the company will donate it to charity. The company launches in April.
