(Mott Haven-WABC, February 13, 2006) (WABC) -- According to officials, police fatally shot a man they say slashed several people, including an 18-month-old boy, in the Bronx Monday afternoon.
Eyewitness News Reporter Lucy Yang is in the Mott Haven section with the story.
According to investigators, the incident took place at an apartment on East 137th Street in Mott Haven shortly before 5 p.m.
NYPD sources say police responding to a 911 call at the apartment discovered a man in his 20's stabbing the infant, as well as a man and a woman, both in their 20's.
The officers opened fire on the assailant, killing him. Police say a 49-year-old woman inside the apartment was also injured, possibly by a blunt object.
All of the slashing victims are in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital.
It's not yet known what sparked the incident.
