Police spend the night back at bouncer's home

Friday, March 10, 2006

There are new questions about Darryl Littlejohn, the man police call "a person of interest" in the Saint Guillen murder investigation.

Eyewitness News reporter Ken Rosato is live in South Jamaica with the latest.

Police worked for hours last night back at Darryl Littlejohn's home in South Jamaica.

This time they tore out his plumbing, the pipes and the fixtures. Early yesterday investigators thought they saw blood around a tub in the basement.

But sources tell Eyewitness News the material was tested and it's not blood.

During all this, Littlejohn was brought to court for his parole violation, being out too late at night and working as a bouncer.

A judge in Queens also put Littlejohn in a lineup for a sexual assault in Forest Hills last October 16th. The victim did not pick Littlejohn out of the lineup. She said her attacker was a taller man.

Kevin O'Donnell, Littlejohn's attorney: "She couldn't identify anybody and she had them all yell 'shut up' and even after that, she still couldn't identify anybody."

Police have tested carpet fibers from Littlejohn's home and they match fibers found on the tape wrapped around the head of Imette Saint Guillen. But police say the fibers are a common variety.

As for the fluid found on the quilt covering Saint Guillen, tests show it came from another person, not Littlejohn.

So after days of searching his home, police still have not charged Littlejohn with the murder.

And we've learned that on Monday, Littlejohn was in an earlier lineup for another rape and that victim failed to identify him.

His lawyer says the question has to be, is Littlejohn a killer or an ex-con who worked two jobs?

O'Donnell: "He's an easy target. He has a long criminal history, but he's trying to clean up his life, he's trying to do the right thing and unfortunately, he's in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Meanwhile, friends of Saint Guillen plan to protest tonight outside the Soho bar where she was last seen alive.

They say the staff at "The Falls" bar stonewalled the investigation.
