(Mendham, New Jersey -WABC, April 6, 2006) (WABC) -- A disturbing new email has emerged in the rape scandal that forced Duke University to cancel it's lacrosse season. University officials suspended sophomore Ryan Mcfadyen of Mendham, New Jersey.
They say he wrote a stomach-turning message just hours after a stripper says she was attacked by members of his team.
Eyewitness News reporter Jen Maxfield has the story.
Nineteen-year-old Ryan Mcfadyen had a promising future as a defenseman on Duke University's lacrosse team, but now the sophomore from Mendham, New Jersey is suspended from school after police say he authored a graphic and disturbing email, an email that was written less than two hours after a stripper says she was raped by three members of the lacrosse team at an off-campus party in Durham, North Carolina.
Area Resident: "I just can't believe how insensitive kids are these days. I don't know what's happening."
Mcfadyen emailed that he was going to invite some strippers to his dorm room and then "I plan on killing the &%$#@*& as soon as they walk in and and proceeding to cut their skin off."
In language too graphic to reveal, Mcfadyen adds that he would find the act of mutilating the strippers sexually satisfying.
Area Resident: "I think that goes beyond the pale. I mean that's not a joke anymore."
Ryan Mcfadyen is well-known in his home town of Mendham. At Delbarton Prep he was a lacrosse star, a six foot six player that one writer called the defenseman of the future.
Tom Hayden, Family Friend: "I couldn't believe it because the Mcfadyens are a good family and I like them."
No one answered the door at the Mcfadyen home today and officials at his former high school had no comment. Mcfadyen has not been criminally charged in connection with the alleged rape and his name does not match the three names that the victim gave to police, but Mcfadyen certainly won't be playing any lacrosse this year.
In the wake of the young woman's charges, the Duke University season has been canceled and the team's veteran coach has resigned.
