(New York - WABC, September 25, 2006) (WABC) -- On "Eyewitness News Monday Morning," we shared the story of a procedure called "Mesoglow" that is making many women happier with their complexion. Here's more on the story.
Our test pilots for the procedure: Three different women with three different beauty regimens. Still, all want their faces to look their best.
Enter Dr Shirley Madhere, a plastic surgeon with a specialty in the procedure called mesotherapy. She's even written a book about it.
Mesotherapy was originated in France and is often used to fight cellulite. But now it's being used on the face.
In Europe they call it a mesolift. But Doctor Madhere has put her own name on the procedure.
Dr. Shirley Madhere: "I prefer to call it mesoglow because there are other techniques both surgical and non-surgical that really create more of a lifting effect."
Thanks to the cocktail of vitamins it uses Dr. Madhere says it's more natural than plastic surgery. Its effects are different too, she says. It promotes a healthy glow on the face, improves the hydration of the skin and firmness as well.
The procedure takes just a few minutes. First there are tiny injections across the face. A vitamin concoction is then left on the skin's surface for several minutes. Then the remains are wiped off and moisturizer applied. The effect: A fresh, dewey complexion.
The procedure is recommended once a week for three to five sessions with a maintenance touch up every 3 to 6 months.
