Three people fatally shot

(Van Cortland-WABC, Oct. 20, 2006) (WABC) -- Three people were fatally shot in the parking lot of the Van Cortlandt Golf Course in the Van Cortlandt section of the Bronx this morning.

Police say the victims were all shot in the lot, near the intersection of Broadway and West 242nd Street, just before 8 a.m.The victims, reported to be a man, woman and a four-year-old child, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Eyewitness News has learned the man and woman were discovered near a dumpster in a section of the parking lot. The child was found some five minutes later, inside a Nissan parked nearby, when authorities began to search for evidence.

The relation of the victims and the motive was not immediately clear.

Two suspects were reported to have fled the scene, and authorities were searching for them.
