Startling discovery after fire is extinguished

A man was bound and set on fire in the basement of a building in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.

Firefighters say when they arrived to the fire at 186 Madison Street, they pub the fire out. When they got down to the basement they made a startling discovery, a man's body was found.

Officials say the victim's hands were bound with duct tape and set on fire in the basement apartment just before 11:00 p.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene but it is not known if the person was killed prior to the fire, or in the fire.

Eyewitness News has learned accelerant was recovered at the scene of the crime. No arrests were immediately made.

Authorities were not immediately able to identify the victim.
