(Fordham-WABC, February 10, 2007) (WABC) -- In the Bronx, police are searching for a woman who shot and killed a young mother inside her apartment building. Now, police have released images of the suspects from a surveillance camera.
They say the suspect conned her way into the victim's apartment on Grand Concourse in the Fordham section.
Eyewitness News reporter Jeff Pegues has more .
This is such a sad, sad story. Angelica Grullon 25-years-old, the last 23 years of her life, she lived in an apartment on the Grand Concourse. She was a single mother, her son just turned one year old in December. Relatives told Eyewitness News she lived for her son. Last night around 6:00 p.m., she died for him as well.
Angelica Grullon's mother and sister could hardly contain their grief today.
Last night, Grullon let a female stranger in to use the bathroom inside her fourth floor apartment. According to relatives, the woman came out of the bathroom, asked for a drink of water and then grabbed victim and said that it was a robbery.
Grullon's one year old son was in the back bedroom and she did not want to get hurt, so she tried to escape and call for help. Police said the robber then fired multiple shots and hit the single mother in the head and abdomen, before she collapsed and died in the hallway.
"She lived for her son. You know, what happened here was a tragedy. Unfortunately you can't be good to people these days. We don't know who did this, they're still investigating. We don't know, we don't know yet," said the victim's brother.
Grullon had a friend in the bedroom with her son at the time of the robbery. Eyewitness News spoke with the only witness who said the robber was a white female, who appeared high on drugs.
Police are hoping a surveillance camera in the hallway captured the suspect before she left in a livery cab.
