Airline by airline storm changes

Airlines are posting the following informational updates on their Web sites:

American Airlines:

American Airlines says it is cancelling 37 percent of its flights out of O'Hare, which account for 93 out its 246 departures. This will affect New York area airports, which are anticipating some cancellations later today, but not a lot.

There will be a reduction of "terminators," that is, planes that will be overnighting in the New York area. Therefore, American Airlines may be running a lighter than normal schedule tomorrow morning. Stay close to the airline for the latest information.

American says it will waive change penalties today through the 14th on flights to and through the three New York airports, as well as others in the path of the storm, in the event passengers have to or want to change their bookings because of the weather.

A number arrivals from the Midwest are being cancelled today due to storm conditions there. As a result, from 25 to 40 percent of American's early departures from New York tomorrow (Wednesday) will be cancelled, due to the lack of available aircraft.

American has cancelled 40 percent of O'Hare and Northeast operations today because of weather in both places. They anticipate further cancellations on Wednesday because of weather. Delta Air Lines:

Customers traveling February 12-14 may experience delays or cancellations due to winter weather. The airline is proactively canceling some flights in order to minimize the weather's impact on operations. United Airlines

To support and serve customers better, United Airlines is offering advice for customers who are traveling on February 13, 2007 - February 14, 2007, to/from/through the following states: Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia Washington D.C. and Wisconsin. Tickets must have been purchased on or before February 12, 2007.

United strongly encourages customers to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport. Customers can check the status of their flights online or by calling 1-800-UNITED-1 for automated, up-to-the-minute flight arrival and departure information. Traveling to/from/through Connecticut, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin:

For customers currently traveling to/from/through any of the above destinations who would like to make one change to their return trip, rules and restrictions regarding standard change fees, advance purchases, day or time applications, blackouts and minimum or maximum stay requirements have been waived. Origin and destination cities must remain the same. Will travel to/from/through Connecticut, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin Customers who have not begun travel to/from/through any of the above destinations may make one change to their travel plans without change fees or advance purchase requirements for the same itinerary.

For a new itinerary, they can make one change without change fees. Rescheduled travel may be subject to higher fares if it does not meet original rule and booking-code restrictions or is a new itinerary. Ticket waiver availability This ticket waiver is available for customers traveling to/from/through Connecticut, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin.

These revised policies apply to all tickets purchased February 12, 2007, or earlier. Original travel dates must be between February 13, 2007 - February 14, 2007 to/from/through any of the above destinations on any United, United Express, TedSM or United code-share flight. Customers with already canceled flights are eligible to apply for a full refund. All changes must be made by midnight of the customer's original travel date. Customers may make these changes by contacting whomever made their travel reservation, or by calling United Reservations at 1-800-UNITED-1. Southwest Airlines:

Baltimore (BWI) Southwest Airlines customers holding reservations to/from BWI on Monday, February 12 from 9:00 a.m. CT through the close of business Thursday, February 15 wanting to alter their travel plans may rebook in the original class of service or travel standby (within 14 days of their original date of travel between the original city-pairs and in accordance with our accommodation procedures) without paying any additional charge. Additionally, Customers holding reservations for a flight that is cancelled to/from BWI may request a refund for an unused ticket/travel itinerary.

Chicago Midway (MDW) Southwest Airlines Customers holding reservations to/from MDW on Monday, February 12 from 9:00 a.m. CT through the close of business Wednesday, February 14 wanting to alter their travel plans may rebook in the original class of service or travel standby (within 14 days of their original date of travel between the original city-pairs and in accordance with our accommodation procedures) without paying any additional charge. Additionally, Customers holding reservations for a flight that is cancelled to/from MDW may request a refund for an unused ticket/travel itinerary.

Indianapolis (IND) Southwest Airlines Customers holding reservations to/from IND on Monday, February 12 from 9:00 a.m. CT through the close of business Wednesday, February 14 wanting to alter their travel plans may rebook in the original class of service or travel standby (within 14 days of their original date of travel between the original city-pairs and in accordance with our accommodation procedures) without paying any additional charge. Additionally, Customers holding reservations for a flight that is cancelled to/from IND may request a refund for an unused ticket/travel itinerary.

St. Louis (STL) Southwest Airlines Customers holding reservations to/from STL on Monday, February 12 from 9:00 a.m. CT through the close of business Tuesday, February 13 wanting to alter their travel plans may rebook in the original class of service or travel standby (within 14 days of their original date of travel between the original city-pairs and in accordance with our accommodation procedures) without paying any additional charge. Additionally, Customers holding reservations for a flight that is cancelled to/from STL may request a refund for an unused ticket/travel itinerary. Continental Airlines:

Continental has reported average delays of 3 hours in Chicago, 1 hour, 10 minutes in Newark and 1 hour, 39 minutes in Philadelphia. Passengers are adviced to expect delays and some cancellations out of the Northeast as the evening wears on.

If US Airways service continues to operate to the affected destinations, you can make certain changes without incurring the standard change fee, advance reservation or ticketing requirements:

You can move your entire itinerary up to seven days before or after the scheduled origination date, although you cannot alter the length of your trip.

You can apply the full value of your wholly unused tickets toward the purchase of a ticket to an alternate destination, although travel must originate within seven days of the scheduled origination date.
