Two arrested after wild chase on Staten Island

Thursday, April 26, 2007

Two men are under arrest tonight, accused of leading police on a wild high speed chase on Staten Island that sparked a chain of car crashes.

Investigators say a driver of a Toyota took off during a traffic stop. During a chase, the Toyota crashed into a van.

Two suspects in the car took off when the Toyota caught fire. One of the suspects was arrested after he apparently tried to flee the scene by catching a bus.

The second suspect was caught after crashing the van into a light pole.

Investigators say he then tried to take off in a police cruiser after assaulting an officer.

Two unmarked police cars pinned the cruiser and arrested the suspect.
