Teen stabbed in Central Park in alleged girl dispute

Friday, May 04, 2007

An 18-year-old teen was stabbed in the back, apparently by his friend, inside Central Park Friday morning.

Police say the teen was stabbed in the park, just off the intersection of East 67th Street and Fifth Avenue, just before noon.

He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with an injury that was not considered serious, according to authorities.

Officials say the attacker, who reportedly knows the victim, fled the scene. Police say several other teen friends, who were witnesses, also ran away.

Authorities say they know the suspect's identity and are looking for him. Detectives believe the youths were fighting over a girl.
