(Cypress Hills-WABC, July 6, 2007) (WABC) -- Five men, pretending to be police officer, remain on the loose this afternoon, after a violent home invasion in Brooklyn. They burst into a house in Cypress Hills last night, attacking three adults, with a baby in the next room.
Eyewitness News reporter Patricia Wu is live in Cypress Hills with the latest.
"I'm very scared because I'm living with my baby and my wife is there, so I have to worry about them. It's really for me," next door neighbor said.
Abudas and his family live right next door to 266 Eldert Lane where the home invasion robbery took place.
Police say the suspects tied up two women and pistol-whipped a man inside the home. Then the robbers allegedly ransacked the place, taking off with $5,000 in cash and some jewelry.
"I never really heard of anything in this area like that and I've been here 10 years...I've never had any problems,"
Investigators searched for evidence that could lead them to the armed bandits. Neighbors can't believe the robberies happened just after eight o'clock last night, before it even got dark, and now they are just trying to remain safe.
"I make sure I keep the doors locked, you know, with my son and my daughter who's six, my son is seven, just maintain everything locked and stay safe,"
The suspects apparently spent 30 minutes ransacking the house, finally fleeing with $5,000 in cash, a VCR, some jewelry and a camera. They sped away in a dark Blue Impala.
The victims said their attackers were wearing police-type clothing and one had on a bullet proof vest and was armed with a gun. Authorities said they did not believe there were any drugs in the house.
