Thursday, August 02, 2007

Police say two drunken off-duty city employees were charged with assaulting a man who spotted them vandalizing vehicles in Queens.

Apparently, the suspects, an off-duty firefighter and sanitation worker, were causing damage to parked cars in the vicinity of 31-16 20th Avenue just before 4:15 a.m. this morning.

When a 32-year-old man spotted them, the duo reportedly grabbed his shoe and tossed it over a fence. Eyewitness News is told they then assaulted their shoeless victim. He sustained minor injuries.

According to police the 32-year-old firefighter and 30-year-old sanitation worker were both charged with robbery, assault, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal mischief. They were believed to be intoxicated at the time.
