54-year-old woman killed in hit and run

(Brooklyn-WABC, August 16, 2007) (WABC) -- Police in Brooklyn are hunting for the person who ran down a woman and just kept on going.

It happened at the intersection of Linden Boulevard and Eldert Lane in City Line early Thursday morning. The victim is identified as 54-year-old Eunice Washington.

Eyewitness News reporter Stacey Sager has details.

Witnesses say the victim thought she was hailing and livery cab.

Authorities say Washington was out with her 29-year-old daughter and 28-year-old son when she hailed the burgandy sedan. After some sort of dispute with the driver, Washington got out of the car, at which point the driver allegedly ran her over.

Investigators say they are looking for a burgundy four-door sedan, the driver dark-skinned with a beard and moustache. People who live nearby say they didn't see much at that hour, but the definitely heard it when it happened.

"It just sounded like a screeching noise," resident Yvette Jones said. "I didn't come outside. I stayed upstairs."

There is a surveillance camera at the Multiplex Cinema near the scene, and police have been inside trying to get ahold of the tape.

Friends say Eunice Washington worked two jobs as a security guard and a lunch aide at a school in Brooklyn.
