Police: School bus driver assaulted teenage boy

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Police say a Staten Island bus driver was charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy who normally takes his route.

40-year-old Rodney Pickett was charged with forcible touching, third degree sex abuse, endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

He will be arraigned later today on Staten Island.

Pickett was accused of inappropriately grabbing the 16-year-old boy inside his house on Sept. 10. Authorities say he then threatened the boy with a knife and told him, "I will kill you if you tell anyone."

Pickett has worked as an MTA driver for the last four or five years, and drives the bus the victim normally takes.

Police say the assault occurred inside the Pickett's house, where the victim was a frequent visitor.
