Plane makes successful 'belly landing' in New Jersey

Thursday, November 29, 2007

A small plane with landing gear problems made a successful belly landing at Morristown Memorial Airport Thursday.

The plane is a Cessna 172 RT, meaning it has retractable gear. It circled the airport for some time before attempting to land.

The pilot got an unsafe gear indication, but he was able to land the plane without incident. Emergency crews doused the plane with foam to make sure there was no fire, and both the pilot and passenger walked away unscathed.
