LI woman arrested in Visine attack

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

Police say a woman on Long Island has been arrested for spiking a friend's drink with Visine eye drops and antagonizing a pit bull to attack and kill his dog.

The arrest of the Bellmore woman comes almost a year after the two separate incidents.

Police say that on June 14, 2006, the woman put Visine in the friend's drink, causing him to suffer vomiting, rectal bleeding and difficult breathing. He was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Plainview.

A few months later, police say, the woman used a metal cane to encourage a large pit bull to attack the man's Chihuahua. The little dog died in the incident.

Police charged the woman with assault and criminal mischief. Police did not say why it took a year to make the arrest.
