Queens -- An apparent long-simmering domestic dispute exploded in bloodshed when a wife opened fire on her husband, a retired NYPD sergeant, inside their Queens home, police said.
Authorities say the wife shot her 49-year-old husband at least five times in their home at 99-08 158th Avenue in Howard Beach just before 1 p.m.
The husband, a retired NYPD crime scene sergeant, was pronounced dead at the scene. A UPS delivery man working in the area reportedly saw the body and called police.
Authorities say the wife was immediately placed in handcuffs and led out of her house by detectives. Crime scene tape was strewn across the front yard and sidewalk.
One neighbor started to clap as she was paraded by before a woman made him stop.
It appears the wife used her husband's service revolver.
