The News Leader

A gossip guru who supplied items to several top columnists was found dead in his apartment in the East Village of apparent natural causes.

Authorities say 53-year-old Baird Jones was discovered dead by a friend inside his apartment at 60 East 8th Street at around 8:41 p.m. Thursday.

The cause of death may have been a heart attack.

The NYPD said there was no criminality.

Jones was a frequent supplier of gossip items to columnists at the Daily News and the Post, including Richard Johnson of "Page Six," Cindy Adams, George Rush, Joanna Mallow and "Gatecrasher" Ben Widdicombe.

He was remembered for his uncanny knack for getting celebrities to tell funny stories, and an incredible memory for odd details.

His primary job was as an art curator for Webster Hall.
