Five injured in UES fire

Five people -- including two firefighters were hurt this afternoon battling a fire in an Upper East Side Manhattan high-rise.

The FDNY tells Eyewitness News three civilians were also hurt in the fire, which broke out in an apartment on the eighth floor of 340 East 64th Street, between First and Second Avenues just before 1 p.m.

Callers to 911 reported smelling smoke throughout the 20-story apartment building.

Some 16 units and about 80 firefighters responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
