Woman accused in ferret death

NEW ROCHELLE (WABC) -- A New Rochelle woman has been arrested on charges she threw her roommate's ferret out a fourth-floor window after an argument.

The ferret was so badly injured it had to be put to death, police say.

Regina Bibona is charged with cruelty to animals. The 38-year-old woman is also accused of criminal mischief for breaking the roommate's eyeglasses and throwing them into a fish tank the night before throwing the ferret out the window. That's according to police Capt. Joseph Schaller (SHA-Ler).

Bibona is awaiting arraignment and no lawyer was listed for her at City Court. She has no telephone listing.
