Brooklyn school concerned about graffiti

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Disturbing, gang-like graffiti is reportedly popping up at a Brooklyn elementary school.

The Daily News is reporting that an elementary school in Brooklyn is concerned about graffiti with a hidden message of "jumping white people," keeps surfacing.

The letters "JWP" which some say means, jump white people -- continues to pop up all over the playground, classrooms, hallways and even teachers' cars at Public School 224 in East New York.

Police say in one incident four students between the ages of 8 and 11 received in-school suspensions after JWP was scrawled on a Snapple machine.

Now teachers are concerned that the markings aren't being taken seriously. Some staff members feel the kids are mimicking gangs at a young age.

A spokeswoman for the Education Department said officials are further investigating the graffiti and trying to figure out the best punishment needed.
