Friday, May 16, 2008

Seven people, including three children, were injured when a van crashed into the street level entrance of a subway in East Harlm Friday.

EMS says one adult and two children are in critical condition. Three other adults and one child are listed in serious condition. Authorities say an infant was the most seriously injured and is clinging to life.

The driver of the van is dead. Authorities believe he may have had a heart attack while driving.

"It came from nowhere," one witness said. "I didn't even see where it came from."

The incident happened at East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue, at the entrance to the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 lines.

"People was bleeding from their head, people was bleeding from their back," the witness said.

No subway delays were reported as a result of the crash.
