Teens arrested in livery driver murder

YONKERS (WABC) -- Two teenage suspects are facing charges in the murder of a livery car driver.

The driver was fatally stabbed in Yonkers Thursday night, sending his out-of-control car crashing into a utility pole.

Authorities say 29-year-old Geraldo Guitierrez was attacked while behind the wheel of his Ford Crown Victoria, with livery plates, as he drove through Yonkers just after 11 p.m.

He was reportedly stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen.

Mortally wounded, his car then careened into a utility pole outside 270 Saw Mill River Road, smashing up the vehicle. Gutierrez was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2 a.m., according to a hospital spokesman.

Now, Yonkers police have arrested two 16-year-old males in connection with the murder

Investigators learned that just before the accident, Guitierrez was involved in a violent struggle in his cab with at least one male near the accident scene.

Police arrested Daquan Duncan, of Tuckahoe, and Adam Arroyo, of Yonkers. Arroyo was charged with hindering prosecution 1st degree, a felony, and Duncan was charged with murder 2nd degree, also a felony. Detectives are determining if robbery was a motive for this assault. The investigation in ongoing.
