New details on child struck & killed

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

There is new information about a young girl who was struck and killed by a livery cab while playing in an open hydrant in the Bronx.

Yaro Dramane is charged with knowingly driving without a license and giving police a false ID.

Six-year-old M'mah Bangoura was hit Monday night while playing near her home at 166th Street Sherman Avenue in the Morrisania section.

Police now say the force of the water pushed her into the street, where she was struck by the car. Dramane took her to the hospital, trying to help. That is when he was arrested.

Early Tuesday morning, Dramane was led out of the 44th Precinct Station in a white T-shirt. The shirt still had some of the little girl's blood on it.

The child's father is simply devastated.

"Every time when she gets out of school, she would call me and say, 'Daddy, I'm back.'" he said. "But today I did not get a call, and I am not going to get a call anymore."
