Sanitation worker fatally shot

Police say an off-duty Sanitation worker was fatally shot in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn Wednesday morning.

32-year-old Edward Hunt was shot in the chest outside 857 Lincoln Place at around 5:30 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.

Police recovered two rounds at the scene.

Witnesses told police a suspect was running from the scene. He was described as wearing blue jeans and white sneakers.

The victim, an off-duty Sanitation worker, lived on the block.

Hunt was assigned to Manhattan District 6 garage. He was appointed on July 10, 2000.

He worked the 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift yesterday and was scheduled to be back in at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
