Three shot in Harlem

Thursday, November 06, 2008

Gunfire wounded three people in Harlem on Wednesday night.

The shooting happened outside the subway station at 145th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Police said two women and a man were wounded. All three were taken to Harlem Hospital. The women suffered graze wounds. The man was shot in the leg.

Investigators believe the man was the intended target. He was not with the women.

An off-duty police officer driving in the area saw the shooting. He watched the alleged gunman get into a livery cab and followed him, police said.

The officer arrested the suspect at 132nd Street and Lenox Avenue.

A blogger (http://nyctheblog.blogspot.com) who lives in the neighborhood reports a recent rash of muggings and assaults, including a mugging last month outside this subway station.
