STARRETT CITY (WABC) -- A mugger is preying on women in the vicinity of Starrett City, police said.
New York City investigators say the suspect is wanted in connection with 11 robberies involving mostly older women.
The first incident occurred on September 17 at 8:30 p.m. A 70-year-old woman was struck in the head and her bag was taken on Vandalia Avenue.
The suspect has struck ten times since that first robbery:
A 63-year-old woman was struck in the head and her bag taken in front of 1279 Delmar Loop at 9:00 p.m. on October 2.
The bandit attacked a 61-year-old woman in the lobby of 1275 Delmar Loop at 7:00 p.m. on October 29.The next night at 8:00, a 47-year-old woman was thrown to the ground and her bag was taken inside the elevator at 1305 Delmar Loop.
On November 1, the suspect followed a 71-year-old woman into an elevator at 1430 Freeport Loop. Her pocketbook was taken.
The next morning, a 72-year-old woman was followed into an elevator at 130 Schroeders Avenue, pushed to the ground and her handbag taken.
The suspect struck twice on November 7. He assaulted a 59-year-old woman and took her bag at 20 Vandalia Avenue at 3:50 in the afternoon. A few hours later, a 49-year-old was struck in the back of the head and her bag was taken in front of 160 Schroeders Avenue.
A 61-year-old woman was robbed in the elevator at 130 Vandalia Avenue on November 10 at 3:20 in the afternoon.
The next day, a 49-year-old woman was also robbed in the elevator at 130 Schroeders Avenue.
The suspect's most recent mugging happened on November 14. A 64-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed in an elevator at 1325 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Investigators have been able to develop a sketch of the suspect. He is described as an African-American man, 25-35 years old, approximately 5'8" with a medium build.
