Hit and run driver kills woman in Queens

Saturday, March 14, 2009

Even in a tough economy hardworking families still talk about that American Dream.

It is something the victim was working toward.

Surveillance tape could make a difference tracking down the person driving the car that killed 43- year-old QunFang Li .

There were surveillance cameras near the scene on Kissena Boulevard and Oak Avenue in Flushing.

On the tape, you can see what appears to be a white car heading north on Kissena Boulevard.

The video was recorded shortly after the victim was hit and killed around 9:30 p.m..

Her husband could not contain his grief on Friday as his nephew tried to explain the depth of their loss.

"Not only killed the person, you ruin the whole family and their dream too," he said.

She was coming home from work when it happened. She called from the subway. Her family was having a get together and they were expecting her.

When she got off the bus, she was crossing Kissena Boulevard. That's when Li was struck by the car. Witnesses say the driver had hit the brakes after impact, but then drove away.

When she did not arrive home, her family had begun to search for her. When her husband got to the scene he noticed a victim, but he didn't recognize his wife. She had been disfigured in the violent collision with the car.

She leaves behind a 9-year-old son and a grieving family, which is hoping the police investigation and perhaps the video will lead to an arrest.

Police are looking for a white late model Honda Accord, but have no other description available at this time.

If you have any information you are asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-577-TIPS.
