Woman killed after slashing officer

  

BROOKLYN (WABC) -- A knife-wielding woman was fatally shot by police after she allegedly attacked an officer in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn.

It happened as police answered a call about criminal mischief at a Brooklyn apartment on Wednesday morning. The landlord called police because the woman was apparently banging on his door.

Police say a woman in her 40s charged the officers with a 12-inch kitchen knife. She slashed the officer, cutting him in the hands. The other two other officers fired five shots, killing her. The officer was rushed to Kings County Hospital for treatment of deep lacerations to the hand. He was listed in stable condition.
