Thief uses subway turnstile to trap victim

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York City Police Department is asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect wanted for robbery that occurred in a subway station in Brooklyn.

Police say a 36-year-old woman was robbed at the Halsey Street station on May 24 just after 1 a.m.

The woman was reportedly exiting the station at Wycoff Avenue and George Street through the high turnstile exit when a suspect, armed with a screwdriver, grabbed the bars and trapped the woman inside.

He then stole the victim's property and fled in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
