Girl killed by falling tree in Ct.

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Connecticut police say a 13-year-old girl has died after a large tree fell on her during a party at a home on the Danbury-New Fairfield town line.

Police say Catherine Burke was at a party to celebrate the end of the school year at her home on Smoke Hill Drive Wednesday afternoon when a dead 50-foot tree fell over.

Police say the seventh-grade New Fairfield Middle School student was killed and another girl suffered a broken leg when the dead tree fell on them.

Neighbors say the family held an end-of-school-year party for their daughter and her friends every year.
