Car plunges into water in Sheepshead Bay

SHEEPSHEAD BAY (WABC) -- A car driven by a woman with two teenage passengers plunged off a pier on Saturday night.

The drama unfolded in Sheepshead Bay.

Witnesses say the trio got into the car on Emmons Avenue, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and went into the water.

That's when quick-thinking fishermen from nearby boats came to the rescue. Those fishermen managed to pull the three to safety.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
