Two teens shot in the Bronx

BRONX (WABC) -- A teenaged girl is fighting for her life after getting shot in the head in the Bronx on Monday.

Long after the teenaged girl had been rushed to Lincoln Hospital, her backpack remained at the crime scene. You could see a notebook, an iPod.

Everything that suggests she is like so many other teenagers. Parents spoke with fear -- it could just as easily have been their son or daughter.

"It should have never happened, should have been prevented," one parent, Dana Ford, said.

There were a lot of kids, witnesses said, and there was also someone arguing.

Shots were fired near the corner of Home Street and Prospect Avenue around 3:40 p.m.

A 19 year old man was shot twice along with the 15 year old girl, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The young man is not a student, according to education department officials. He was shot in the back.

Both were taken to the hospital The girl was listed in critical condition. The boy is expected to survive.

Police described the suspect as a young black man, age 16-22 years old, 5'7" tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black and blue hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap with a Yankees logo, and blue jeans.
