New York City's medical examiner's office says an armed teenager killed by police officers during a chase was shot 11 times.

Medical examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said Sunday that 18-year-old Dashawn Vasconcellos died of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, neck and extremities.

Police shot and killed the teenager late Saturday after they say he pointed a gun at officers and refused orders to drop it.

The incident took place on Beach Channel drive in the Rockaways.

Police say four officers in an unmarked car spotted three men leaving a city park after hours and got out of their car to question them. They say Vasconcellos fled, then turned and pointed a 9mm semiautomatic pistol at the officers who were pursuing him.
