Man shot during attempted TV theft in Queens

QUEENS (WABC) -- A 64-year-old man is in stable condition in Queens Friday after being shot by thieves trying to steal his new TV.

Police say the victim was carrying the 47-inch flat-screen TV into his home in Springfield Gardens Friday morning when he was ambushed by three men.

One of the robbers shot the victim in the stomach.

When the thieves tried to escape, they couldn't fit the oversized TV into their getaway vehicle. They dumped it on the ground and took off.
