December 8, 2012 (CHICAGO) -- Two Chicago police detectives want to give a special holiday to a brother and sister rescued from an abusive grandmother.
Detectives Pamela Childs and Joseph Mancilla say the kids, ages 5 and 6, came forward during an investigation and detailed physical abuse they've endured. The detectives say the 6-year-old boy spoke up because he wanted a happy holiday for his little sister.
The detectives say the kids are safe. The grandmother has been charged and the police department is working to make this a special Christmas for the kids.
