AMITYVILLE (WABC) -- A compromise has been reached in the color controversy between the Village of Amityville and major supermarket chain Stop and Shop.
The store's purple, green, red and yellow signs go against the village's low-key and subtle sign ordinance.
After some back and forth, Amityville's planning board approved a design makeover.
It includes everything except the purple stripe that wraps around the store's exterior.
