Attempted kidnapping on Long Island

Police on Long Island are investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred in Valley Stream on Friday at 7:38 p.m.

According to detectives, a female victim, 16, while walking through Hendrickson Park noticed a man walking toward her and then passing her on the path.

She then came to a bridge in the park and saw the man waiting there.

As she walked by, the subject came up from behind her and wrapped both arms around her tightly and whispered 'Shhhh' in her ear.

The victim began to scream, causing the subject to release her.

The victim then fled and notified police.

No injuries were reported.

The subject is described as a white man in his early 20's, dark hair, shaved arms, wearing a black t-shirt, khaki shorts and smelt strongly of smoke.
