Long Island news from Eyewitness News
FREEPORT, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police are looking for an armed suspect who grabbed a gold chain from a man walking on a Long Island street.
Nassau County police say the victim was able to fend off the suspect, who bit him in the hand before fleeing.
The suspect stopped the victim in the street in Freeport Wednesday night and asked for a light. He then allegedly pulled out a silver handgun and yanked the chain off the 53-year-old man's neck. Police say the victim knocked the gun to the ground and was bit in the hand during an ensuing struggle.
The victim was treated at the hospital for a laceration to his hand.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
