Long Island man arrested for alleged Craigslist scam

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Police on Long Island have arrested a man for ripping off people he met through Craigslist.

Investigators say Jamel Smith of East Meadow advertised his services as a real estate broker on Craigslist.

After meeting people, he would get down payment money from them, but never supply them with an apartment.

He's accused of stealing more than $15,000.
