Suspect shot after he tries to hit cops on Long Island

WESTBURY, N.Y. (WABC) -- A suspected car thief in Nassau County was shot by police after allegedly striking two officers with his minivan.
Police cornered the suspect, who was wanted for a series of car thefts, at a Best Buy parking lot in Westbury around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
He reportedly hit a patrol car and the officers as he tried to make a getaway.
An officer fired at the minivan, hitting the suspect's lower leg.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was hospitalized. His condition was not immediately known.
Police say two officers were also treated for minor injuries.
