Man allegedly stabs ex 13 times, self 4 times

A Copiague man is under arrest for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend in Massapequa on Tuesday.

According to detectives, the victim, a 25 year old female from Westbury, agreed to meet her ex-boyfriend, Ruben Estrada, 46, at 943 Carmans Road in the parking lot.

Estrada allegedly got into the victim's car and attacked her, punching her and stabbing her 13 times with a knife.

Witnesses at the scene intervened and were able to get the victim out of the car.

Then, police say Estrada stabbed himself four times in the chest with the knife.

The victim was airlifted to an area hospital where she is listed in stable but critical condition.

Estrada was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and is also listed in stable but critical condition.

Estrada is charged with Murder 2nd degree (Attempt), Assault 1st degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in the hospital on a later date.
