NEW YORK (WABC) -- The Long Island Power Authority as we know it is no more.
New York Gov. Cuomo ripped a LIPA emblem from a repair truck and replaced it with a PSE&G logo.
The beleaguered LIPA will be under control of the giant New Jersey utility beginning on January 1st.
The governor says the move was necessary because LIPA failed to deliver when Superstorm Sandy knocked out power to more than 1.1 million customers.
