SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Authorities say a girl vacationing with her parents at the New Jersey shore has died after she was found unconscious in a motel swimming pool.
The victim, identified only as a 9-year-old Mine Hill girl, was pulled from the pool at the Skyview Manor Motel in Seaside Heights around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. A borough police officer soon arrived and began performing CPR, but the girl was pronounced dead a short time later at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Authorities estimate the girl was under water for two to three minutes before a bystander noticed her and pulled her out.
It was not immediately clear how the girl got into the pool.
