Prosecutors: firebomber confesses to synagogue attacks

HACKENSACK (WABC) -- The New Jersey teenager charged in the firebombings of two synagogues has confessed to the crimes, prosecutors said in court Tuesday.

Anthony Graziano, 19, admitted to detectives that he tried to start a fire at the Congregation K'Hal Adath Jeshurun in Paramus on January 3 and threw Molotov cocktails into the Congregation Beth El in Rutherford on January 11.

In the Rutherford incident, Graziano said he continued to toss the Molotov cocktails at the home of a rabbi even after he heard screams coming from inside.

Graziano said he looked online to learn how to properly build and throw the incendiary devices.

Grazino was also facing additional charges after police said they linked him to another attempted attack on the Jewish Community Center of Paramus. A potentially dangerous arsenal of Molotov cocktails was discovered in the woods within 100 yards of the center.

He on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to those charges.

Graziano faces more than a dozen counts of attempted murder, aggravated arson and bias intimidation in connection with the synagogue attacks.

A judge reduced the 19-year-old's bail from $5 million to $2.5 million, saying he doesn't have the money to post bond.
