Police chase of stolen SUV ends in crash in Newark

NEWARK (WABC) -- A police chase involving a stolen SUV ended in a crash in Newark early Tuesday.

The Toyota Seneca was apparently stolen in Paramus sometime after 5:30 a.m.

Police officers from East Rutherford and Clifton spotted the vehicle, and pursued the driver south on Route 21.

The SUV struck another vehicle in Nutley and fled that crash. No serious injuries were reported.

The chase ended when the SUV crashed into a fence at the intersection of Route 21 and Bridge Street in Newark.

One suspect was taken into custody and charges are pending.
